Kids' Lessons

Sorry, we currently don't have capacity to accommodate children in ski lessons due to availability of coaches.  If you’re interested in being placed on a waiting list for children ages 4-6 (Bunnies and Jack Rabbits 1), please contact us at  WhiskeyJackNSC@gmail.com.

If you are willing to volunteer as a coach, we are hosting a Coaches Clinic on December 5-6.  Please contact us at WhiskeyJackNSC@gmail.com.

Our club has certified ski instructors!

Lessons start January.

  • Cost is $60 for Bunnies and Jackrabbits plus club membership ($25/child or $182/family).
  • Season rentals of skis are available for $50 for Bunnies, $80 for Jackrabbits on a first come first served basis.

Bunnies and Jack Rabbit Level 1: children to age 6 with no ski experience  (Bunnies), children to age 6 having taken Bunnies (Jack Rabbit 1)

Goals:

  • Help children develop a positive self-image.
  • Be fun.
  • Provide children an opportunity to make ski-friends.
  • Develop fundamental movement skills.
  • Help children develop an awareness and appreciation of our natural environment.
  • 9 lessons on Saturdays 1:00-1:45

Jackrabbits (Levels 2 to 4): children age 6-9 with some ski experience

Goals:

  • Help children develop confidence.
  • Be fun.
  • Provide children an opportunity to ski and socialize with their ski-friends.
  • Build overall motor skills.
  • Help children develop outdoor winter safety skills
  • 9 lessons on Saturdays 1:00-2:00 (all levels)
  • 9 optional, but strongly encouraged, lessons on Tuesdays 4:00-5:30 (for level 4)
  • Students must commit to attending the first three lessons or they will not be allowed to continue lessons, no refund permitted.  Participating in early lessons means children:
    • learn key skills pertinent to success in the lessons
    • enable them to keep up with the rest of the class, and not hold up the others in their class.
  • Level 3/4 skiers:
  • are welcome to join dryland training and lessons on Tuesdays (not mandatory, but strongly encouraged particularly for Level 4)
  • will be learning to skate ski - requiring their own set of skate skis or can make do with waxable classic skis with skate ski length pole

Track Attack ages 10-12/Ungroomers ages 13+: Teens with some ski experience

Goals:

  • Develop fitness through active play, games and other activities.
  • Be fun.
  • Provide children an opportunity to be part of a sport “team”.
  • Develop competence in cross country ski skills.
  • Expose children to a variety of “adventure-based” cross country ski activities.
  • 9 lessons on Saturdays 1:00-2:30
  • 9 lessons on Tuesdays 4:00-5:30
  • Track attack skiers must commit to lessons on both Tuesday and Saturday
  • Track Attack skiers need their own classic skis and skate skis (we do not have enough rentals in larger sizes)

Children aged 8+, with no prior experience: We don’t have a series of lessons planned due to coach availability at the moment.  We are collecting names of families who are interested.  Please email t-c-kress@hotmail.com to be added to the list.  If coaching circumstances change, we will contact you.
