Kids' Lessons
Sorry, we currently don't have capacity to accommodate children in ski lessons due to availability of coaches. If you’re interested in being placed on a waiting list for children ages 4-6 (Bunnies and Jack Rabbits 1), please contact us at WhiskeyJackNSC@gmail.com.
Our club has certified ski instructors!
Lessons run from Jan 9 to Mar 13, 2021
- Cost is $60 for Bunnies and Jackrabbits plus club membership ($25/child or $182/family).
- Season rentals of skis are available for $50 for Bunnies, $80 for Jackrabbits on a first come first served basis.
Bunnies : children to age 6 with no ski experience - note that one parent on skis, for safety reasons, must accompany their child in lessons
Goals:
- Help children develop a positive self-image.
- Be fun.
- Provide children an opportunity to make ski-friends.
- Develop fundamental movement skills.
- Help children develop an awareness and appreciation of our natural environment.
- 10 lessons on Saturdays 1:00-1:45
Jack Rabbit Level 1: beginner skiers age 6 & 7 or children to age 6 having taken Bunnies
Goals:
- Help children develop a positive self-image.
- Be fun.
- Provide children an opportunity to make ski-friends.
- Develop fundamental movement skills.
- Help children develop an awareness and appreciation of our natural environment.
- 10 lessons on Saturdays 1:00-2:00
Jackrabbits (Levels 2 to 4): children age 6-9 with some ski experience
Level 2
pre- requisite: completed level 1 or assessed by a coach to be placed in level 2
Level 3
pre-requisite: completed level 2 or previous classic ski experience and assessed by a coach to be placed in level 3
age 9 & under
Level 4
Prerequisite completion of level 3
age: 9 years and under
Sorry, we do not currently have coaches to teach children 10 or older who have not completed level 4.
Goals:
- Help children develop confidence.
- Be fun.
- Provide children an opportunity to ski and socialize with their ski-friends.
- Build overall motor skills.
- Help children develop outdoor winter safety skills
- 10 lessons on Saturdays 1:00-2:00 (all levels)
- 10 optional, but strongly encouraged, lessons on Wednesdays 4:00-5:30 (for level 4)
- Students must commit to attending the first three lessons or they will not be allowed to continue lessons, no refund permitted. Participating in early lessons means children:

- learn key skills pertinent to success in the lessons
- enable them to keep up with the rest of the class, and not hold up the others in their class.
- Level 3/4 skiers:
- are welcome to join lessons on Wednesdays (not mandatory, but strongly encouraged particularly for Level 4)
- will be learning to skate ski - requiring their own set of skate skis or can make do with waxable classic skis with skate ski length pole
Track Attack ages 10-12/Ungroomers ages 13+: Teens with some ski experience
Goals:
- Develop fitness through active play, games and other activities.
- Be fun.
- Provide children an opportunity to be part of a sport “team”.
- Develop competence in cross country ski skills.
- Expose children to a variety of “adventure-based” cross country ski activities.
- 10 lessons on Saturdays 1:00-2:30
- 10 lessons on Wednesdays 4:00-5:30
- Track attack skiers must commit to lessons on both Wednesday and Saturday
- Track Attack skiers need their own classic skis and skate skis (we do not have enough rentals in larger sizes)
